  1. Franz Schubert — Quintet in C Major for Strings, D. The work of Franz Schubert ( – ) constantly reminds us of the astounding power of melody, and in this, his final instrumental work, the composer penned some of his most ravishing.

  3. The music itself is simply fantastic: Schubert's wonderful last three String Quartets - the A minor "Rosamunde" D, the D minor "Death and the Maiden" D, and the great G major D - plus one earlier quartet, the brilliant single movement "Quatettsatz" D and of course the sublime String Quintet in C, D/5(11).

  4. Apr 27,  · Schubert's chamber music offers some astounding pieces of music. Let's face it, most everything Schubert wrote is astounding. Of nearly all his chamber music, the Quintet in C Major, Op. /D. is probably one that stands tall among the rest of his chamber work along with the "Death and the Maiden" String bobscompthekusineticconfransrolltorre.co quintet is a work that nearly approaches 50 minutes in length and yet.

  8. Schubert's sublime C major Quintet is eminently well served on LP at present and its representation on CD is fast growing. The latest additions to the LP catalogue are the Philips reissue of the Grumiaux set ( PC, 5/85) and the Cleveland Quartet with Yo-Yo Ma as second cellist on CBS listed above.

  9. Schubert’s Quintet in C major, D. for two violins, viola, and two cellos resonates with me long after I hear it – as do Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis and String Quartet No. 15 in A minor, Op. and Bruckner’s 9th Symphony – because the composers invested so 5/5(10).
