  3. Jun 18,  · I am almost done building an etching machine based on the plans by Bob Warner but, hosted by Chris Crawford on his website. Here's the link: Etcher Tutorial It does not call for a piece of graphite though. A long time ago, in a high school physics class, some friends and I hooked up one lead from a resistance coil to a watch and the other lead to the stainless steel ferule of my mechanical pencil.

I like to use flat black primer, but any color should work. Step 3) Invert the color of your design so that you're etching away the parts of the resist you want.

  7. Electrolytic Etcher: I did some electrolytic etching when I made a crossbow, this was a very rough and ready affair where I simply used a saline bath, two wires and a 12V battery. I was pretty happy with the results and so, I did a little bit of research into electrol.

  9. As simple as this machine is to use, I still get anxiety when it comes time to etch blades. This is mainly because I etch the blade as one of the final steps, and I hate having to go back to hand sanding a blade again if something goes awry during etching.
