It Serves You Right To Suffer - John Lee Hooker - Classic John Lee Hooker (CD)

  1. Given Hooker's unpredictable timing and piss-poor track record recording with bands, this one-off session for the jazz label Impulse! would be a recipe for disaster. But with Panama Francis on drums, Milt Hinton on bass, and Barry Galbraith on second guitar, the result is some of the best John Lee Hooker material with a band that you're likely to come across.6/

  2. Nov 19,  · John Lee Hooker himself did not know his exact date of birth. If he hadn't died at around the age of 80, this ageless musician would still be easily pulling the next generation to his gigs. Hooker remains a phenomenon, a mysterious figure of black rhythm and blues, a charismatic king who reigns supreme in rock 'n' roll's Hall of Fame.

  7. A number of John Lee Hooker CDs have been released over the years, many of them somewhat shoddy compilations of rather dubious-sounding live shows and unlabeled re-recordings of vintage material. This makes the reissue of a classic John Lee Hooker album like 's smoking IT SERVES YOU RIGHT TO SUFFER all the more appreciated.5/5(15).

  8. This is THE music to get. John Lee Hooker was the most basic of all the major bluesmen. That one chord boogie he did for over fifty years was blues at its essense. Packed with power. Serves You Right To Suffer does not deviate a wit from this, nor should it/5(59).
